Voice Typing Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 21, 2026

Voice Typing is a free Chrome extension that adds a microphone button to text boxes so you can talk instead of typing.

What we collect

Nothing. Voice Typing has no servers and no accounts. It does not collect, store, sell or share any of your information, and it has no analytics or tracking.

Your voice

The microphone is used only while you have turned it on by clicking the mic button. It stops when you click the button again, press Esc, or leave the text box.

Voice Typing uses the speech recognition built into Google Chrome. Chrome sends the audio to Google to turn it into text, under Google's Privacy Policy. Voice Typing itself never receives, keeps or sends your audio.

What you type

The words you speak are typed into the text box you chose, the same way you would type them yourself. Voice Typing does not read or save the content of the pages you visit.

Website access

Chrome says the extension can "read and change" websites because it needs to show its button on text boxes on any site. It only adds the button and types your dictated words. It sends nothing anywhere.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
